Statement

Cool, clear water, designer water, overflowing from a glass onto a table because someone's too tired to think straight. Maybe it's ironic that the theme of our debut issue is Burnout. But given all the sleeplessness going around just now, it feels right to us. You can read why we don't think that the great sleep deficit of the new millennium is as terrible as it sounds on page 70. You can also read about a lot of other things -- from one man's effort to bring back the zeppelin as a modern form of transportation, to why pill names are shorter than they used to be, to how a global guru deals with air rage. We're into the culture of business -- style for today's economy, the wild world of work. If you want to see the glass half-empty, you can point to us as another sign of the encroachment of your career into your personal life. We prefer to think of Fuse as a celebration of -- an overflow of observations about -- living in this career-crazy (or crazy career) culture. Of course, too much of anything -- even cool, clean, designer water -- can make a mess. But here's hoping that instead of finding us all wet, you'll turn the page and go with the flow. To Work. To Life. To Style. Salud!

Lisa Gabor, Editor in Chief, Fuse.
