Statement

foam is open. After years of planning, meeting, adjusting plans, discussing, lobbying and changing plans again, the doors of Keizersgracht 609 are at last open to the public. Thanks to the support of a whole range of people.

foam is open. Accessible to everyone. Foam is the definitive name of Stichting Fotografie Museum Amsterdam: a combination of photography and Amsterdam. Foam is more than a museum, it's a centre for photography, a platform, a laboratory. Foam aims not just to present, but to inspire and experiment.
foam is open. As an organisation too. Foam collaborates with others. With guests, with colleagues, with companies and with cultural organisations. Foam is open to influences from outside. It means foam carries on surprising.

foam is open. And with it, the first exhibition. Enthusiastic and ambitious. 'dutchdelight' is compiled by art director Erik Kessels. In the photos he selected as guest curator Dutch light plays a prominent or natural role. This catalogue is foam's first magazine, a publication which will appear regularly.

Amateur photographers and professionals, journalists and tourists, photography fans and lovers, students and sponsors, collectors and browsers, everyone is welcome.

foam is open.
