It was born from an observation and a good deal of contemplation about all the amazing natural wonders and interesting geographies, different peoples, cultures and personalities, natural playgrounds and mysterious melodies occupying the rotational sphere that we, the human race, call home. The dream evolved into a parallel observation that no existing American publication sufficiently celebrates the diversity of the planet and the spirit of adventure one learns in discovering its details. The observation boiled down to a plan of action: to create such a magazine, a Journal for the New Traveller, that promotes the philosophy of a globally accessible world, one whose denizens take advantage of the fact that you can be anywhere on the map within 48 hours, via air travel, the internet or telecommunications. The magazine would adopt a philosophy of pushing boundaries, living life to the fullest and approaching every day adventurously, whether walking down a city street or trekking through Tibet. As the Blue concept contagiously grew from one to many minds, the Blue vision flourished. Soon emerged a whole new "Blue" way of thinking. Ideas which were grounded in the shared passions of adventure travel, cultural exploration, and action sports led to the realization that such interests are linked to a spectrum of other common interests ranging from music to books, from politics to technology, the enviroment and economics. So Blue's identity broadened from a special interest title to a lifestyle magazine. Amy Schrier |
